FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
01. Why is Design Management important?
Design management is what keeps a project's design information coordinated, accurate and ready to build from, rather than a set of separate consultant outputs that don't quite align. Without it, gaps between disciplines tend to surface on site instead of on paper, in clashes, late information or decisions made without the full picture, all of which cost far more to fix once work is underway. We keep that coordination, and the risk behind it, under control from the outset, so the people building the project are always working from information they can trust.
02. What size projects do you work on?
We support a wide range of project sizes, from short technical reviews and part-time appointments through to complex refurbishment, fit-out, high-end residential, commercial and data centre projects. Our role can be scaled to suit the project, whether that is a fixed review, a retained monthly service or embedded project support.
03. Where do you work?
Hot Pickle Consulting is UK-based and regularly supports projects across London, the South East and wider UK. We also support international projects where design management, BIM, document control or consultant coordination is required, usually working alongside local design and permitting teams where regional compliance is needed.
04. What contract types do you support?
We support a range of procurement and contract routes, including Design and Build, Traditional, Construction Management, Management Contracting and specialist subcontractor appointments. We are particularly experienced in Design and Build environments, where design responsibility, information release, approvals, subcontractor design and programme risk need to be clearly managed.
05. How much does your service cost?
Our fees depend on the scope, programme, seniority of resource and level of involvement required. We can work on a day-rate, fixed-fee, capped-fee or retained monthly basis. For defined scopes, such as technical reviews, DRM development or tender support, we can provide a clear fixed fee. We are competitively priced and offer excellent value for money.
